What’s the difference between a personality- versus a purpose-driven leader?
It’s hard running an organization.
The pressures are fierce. It’s not for everyone. Often, it’s lonely.
Those who can handle the volatility, the dramas, and the pressure, tend to have big personalities. Which can be wonderful and, during a real crisis, even essential.
But high-performing organizations don’t live in urgent, crisis-mode.
So, can leaders who are a bit “larger than life” create calm and purposeful workplaces?
Yes, they can. And the good ones know … they must.
There are distinctions between a personality-driven leader and a purpose-driven leader.
It’s rarely binary. We all move across the line, sometimes many times in one day.
But knowing where you are in a serious moment, how you are showing up for the folks around you, can make all the difference.
